Months 2 and 3

So much has gone on in the last two months I am going to have to make a top ten list...So here are our memories, lessons learned and great laughs for past two months (in no particular order)
1. The Pot Roast
While I am very embarrassed to share this-- it is a story that we will always laugh at. Mind you, I have never claimed to be a cook but am trying to learn and be a good wife for my amazing husband. My mother was a great cook and often made Roast--I have discovered that I love the crock pot and decided that I was going to make our first Roast. Just as my mom had always done, I thawed the meat, cut up the vegetables, chose a setting and put in the Roast to cook all day. Two hours later I returned to the crock pot only to discover, my roast was done! In two hours-- it was a miracle! I called my mom and said "my roast cooked in two hours and it is the thinnest roast I have ever seen...I must have the crockpot on the wrong setting." Following the call, Justin opened the crockpot, then opened the freezer...to conclude "Paige..you have cooked my steaks." Until that day I had always thought that 'Roast' happened after being cooked in the crockpot. So that night we had steak, NOT ROAST...(and we had a guest over for dinner...ugh!..embarrassing)
2.The Garage Sale
While we are trying to live "Dave Ramsey style"--we decided, along with another newlywed couple, to host a garage sale. Little needs to be said about this--other than Justin will never let me have a garage sale again. By the end of the day it was a "pay what you want" garage sale and for the amount me made...we would have rather paid someoen to just take all the junk off of our hands..but it was a great learning experience!
3.The House for Sale
We are trying to sale our house, Justin is considering saling his business, and we did downgrade his truck--all in effort to "live like no one else, so later we can live like no one else." We are in strides of incredible transition--but it keeps everyday exciting and we certainly stay on our toes.
4. A little FFA in the mix
October 22nd and 23rd we made the shortest, longest trip...EVER! Justin and me, with a friend each, took a roadtrip to Indianapolis for National FFA Convention. I have a strong leadership background with FFA ..Justin was in FFA but his experience was very different than mine. One of our bridesmaids was a National Officer and we traveled to hear her Retiring Address..she did great and I think Justin was impressed with the 50,000 FFA members that flooded downtown Indianapolis. We stayed in an amazing historic hotel in the center of monument circle and hope to travel back someday!
5. A 'quelffy' Halloween
Have you ever played quelff? That's all I can say. From wrapping yourself up like a mummy to splashing yourself in the face with water and tap dancing for a minutes--this game is literally, unending...and a game to be played..once a year...because it requires a signifcant amount of energy! Justin did great! We had a game night with @ his parents house...and his mom had the most amazing halloween desserts...we all took turns handing out candy to kids and enjoyed the night of fellowship...concluding the evening with a game of balderdash...which is basically good ole' fashioned lying!
6. The House of Blues
So..we are both 'Need to Breathe' fans and had our first experience attending a concert at House of Blues in Dallas! Amazing atmospher. Now, when I say we are fans of Need to Breathe..what I meant is that there are at least 5 songs that we really like. When the opening act started, we were thinking "this is incredible" and when the singer thanked Need to Breathe.. we were very confused. We thought the first guy was need to breathe and later found out he was Matthew Mayfield..who is actually really good and has some music that has been featured on Grey's!All in all the atmosphere was pretty cool..I am sure we will go back!
7. Albertsons
We have two white trucks--both are chevy...one is a work truck and the other is not.Usually the work truck is in Justin's shop. One day I needed to run to the grocery store--Justin told me to take "his truck." I grabbed the keys, started er' up and headed to albertson's (which is, thankfully a couple blocks away). After getting my groceries, I went back to the truck and it would NOT start...I called Justin and he tried to talk me through a series of solutions...I assured him the truck was not going to start. We moved on to plan B, which included Justin driving to come get me and take a look at the truck.....which he was unable to do..BECAUSE..i grabbed the keys to the wrong truck..somehow they started the wrong truck...locked and unlocked the wrong truck..got me to albertsons but were unable to get me home. Justin then had to walk the correct keys to me and after several more minutes of trying to get the personal truck to start with the work truck keys....the alarm started going off.... SO..not only was Justin having to walk keys to me...he could probably here the alarm to his truck going off......a funny story that cannot be explained.
8. Ranger and his personality Enlargement
As mentioned last time, I feed Ranger people food. Ranger is getting fat, happy and is in dog heaven! Not only does he howl on a regular basis when we don't let them on the house..he jumps on people and on the furniture..he is a brand new dog...(its becasue he has a mommy and daddy now). A few years ago when Justin got Ranger..he rescued him from the pound and Ranger was always been very timid...but not anymore....we are one big happy family!
9. Our non-existent child
Clearly you understand the power of social media--you are on a blog site....One major difference to note in Justin and I, is that I sometimes think Justin thrives on making me feel nervous and I try to foster an enviroment where everyone feels comfortable....Justin loves to embarrass me and one day...after trading in our truck....for a different one...Justin updated his facebook status to say something like " We are making an addition to the scott family!" A few minutes after he posted this, I walked into his office and he was chuckling and told me to look on facebook--where I saw his post and also saw the first comment which said "PAIGE IS PREGNANT!!" So..to clarify..if you heard this rumor or hear it again in the future...Justin likes to give people the wrong impression concerning this topic..and he does this often...you can always clarify with me!
10. Rainy days with art, fire, and Damien Rice
Because Justin is a landscaper--when it rains his work is paused. We both agree that some of our favorite days were the rainy ones..I go to school and work on MWF so I have TT open...there was one day that was near perfection-- it was rainy and we got to go for coffee, do some big dreaming, walk through some vintage stores, and then came home....Justin built a fire..and started a painting (Justin is a very talented abstract painter)....I watched...and then got to craft something myself...Justin and I usually agree on good music... so on a day like that...you can't go wrong with a little Damien Rice..

Month One

So..I have decided to start blogging as a way to keep track of and share of all the awesome memories Justin and I are making and of course, lessons we are learning, in our first season of married life. Let me start by saying, if you were a part of our special day 8/15/09--THANK YOU! That was the most beautiful, fun, and amazing day for us! Sometime I will blog the specifics of all that and hope to share pictures--but for now--let me catch you up on where God has brought us and where your love and encouragement has allowed us to go!
Following the wedding we took our first big road trip--and drove to Destin, FL where we had a great honeymoon stay and successfully dodged all tropical storms! We ate amazing food...(longhorn steakhouse our favorite and there isn't one in TX..boo) we also learned that I cannot play frisbee, or 'body surf' but Justin did teach me throw a football correctly!

When we arrived home we had been blessed not only, with a living room full of wedding presents, but also a new mattress (total suprise from my parents) and basically, a new bathroom. Justin's mom had spent hours scrubbing his bachelor bathroom into a...healthy bathroom?

As a wedding gift someone enrolled us in Dave Ramsey's financial peace university, so we are going through that and loving it. We are also helping our with Junior high youth on Sunday evenings and have joined a church life group that meets once a week. Can I just say that our church family is truly a family-- and functions as a community. It is the most amazing and refreshing work to be a part of. If you are looking and in the area, please visit our church website-- http://www.legacybiblechurch.org/

For a while things had slowed down for Justin but seem to be picking back up. He works very hard and is going through a men's discipleship program at our church-- I am really proud of him.I am finishing my senior year at Southeastern and all classes are going well. Oh and Justin has a dog, Ranger, and unbeknownst to me, Justin had never given him human food in the kitchen--and Justin began to notice Ranger following me around and literally drooling when I would walk in the kitchen--so we have been busted, Ranger and I. I have been feeding Ranger leftovers when I am home with him...and now...he won't eat dog food..but he is sooo happy...and we are too! There is so much more--but these are the basics! Month one has been awesome...we are so blessed and praise God from whom all blessings flow!
